Whether within your classroom, your school, state or global environment,
students can collaborate in the StoryTelling process.
Shannon Wentworth will introduce us to Twitter Tales. The essence of storytelling can be accomplished in just a few short words as students use Twitter to illuminate, elaborate and extend the “Story”. Watch how a story evolves as students add pieces to the collaboration. Shannon has presented this topic at ISTE several times and we are excited to have her share her student’s success using the Twitter Tale concept.
Linda Martin will follow with a global experience called Mystery Wiki Tales. Linda has used this with her students and other classrooms around the world to inspire a Mystery Tale that is first collaborated through “one on one” meetings between classrooms to gather ideas and concepts, are then extended and written in a shared environment which is housed on a wiki for all to enjoy. Linda has presented this topic and her students work at ISTE.
Tara Waudby will share Paper Slide Videos, which can be used in all subject areas and allows for collaboration from beginning to end. Tara will show how this process gives students an opportunity to have fun with their StoryTelling as they collaborate to create dynamic and engaging stories. We appreciate her expertise in Literature and Writing. Tara presented an amazing webinar for DSN last year titled Using Digital StoryTelling to Visualize Narrative Poetry which can be found in our DSN library.
Gwynn Moore will share using Google Apps for Education (GAFE) to bring students together with Story. Whether local or global this venue also allows for collaboration in every aspect of the creation and of Story while using the Digital StoryTelling process. Gwynn presentation of this topic was very well received when presented as part of the ISTE webinar series and was a feature in ISTE's 29 Days of Thanks this Feb. This webinar archive can also be found in our DSN Library.
We will start off with a review Bernajean Porter's Digital StoryTelling’s
Seven Step process http://www.digitales.
us/resources/digitales- storymaking-steps/ and her Take Six Elements http:// creativeeducator. tech4learning.com/v04/ articles/Take_Six that elevate student writing and inspire creative StoryTelling. You will find these steps and elements embedded in each of the projects as they are presented. I am excited to serve as the moderator for this webinar…introducing you to our execs who will share their expertise and inspire you to get into StoryTelling with your students.
It promises to be a very exciting evening!
